PLEASE READ BEFORE SENDING E-MAIL

Hello, my name is Larry Tarr.  I created this website to keep my students informed of the times and locations of my classes, and to provide them with pertinent dance-related information. It pleases me to know that so many Swing dancers all over the world are reading my website, and I hope all of you find it useful.

As much as I would like to answer every one of the many e-mails I receive, regretfully I cannot due to my busy schedule.  A large percentage of questions come from young people who are interested in learning Swing and wish to receive detailed descriptions of dance steps, particularly of the East Coast/Lindy/Jitterbug style featured in the 1998 Gap clothing commercial. I cannot provide such information over the Internet because I firmly believe that any style of Swing should be taught in person by a competent instructor to prevent the countless types of injuries which can result from improper leading, following, or execution of steps.  In this age of endless litigation, I have no desire to expose myself to that kind of liability.

Another common request, from young people working on school research projects, is for extensive written documentation on the history of Swing dancing. I'm sorry to say that I do not have this amount of information ready to transmit on demand, and I don't have the free time to research information that can be easily located by students in various encyclopedias and Internet search engines.

Frequently I receive inquiries on where to learn Swing in particular areas of the country. The U.S. Swing Dance Server is an excellent source of information which might prove helpful. For those dancers who live, work, or travel through my area of Philadelphia, Allentown, South Jersey and surrounding locations, I will be happy to provide whatever assistance I can.
